This Friday, the Valencian tabloid Superdeporte charges Real Madrid player Vinicius severely on its front page. He calls him “Pinochius” and uses a photomontage to give him a large nose. He also accuses the Brazilian of lying “to the judge by pointing out the entire Mestalla for the racist insults.”
Valencia’s criticism of the playerAfter discovering through different media outlets what was said in Vinicius’s remark, the Valencian team released a statement criticizing the player and asking him to make amends.
The Club would like to express its surprise, rejection, and outrage at the information that has been made public regarding the football player Vinícius Jr.’s alleged statement made in court, according to which he was insulted racially by the entire Mestalla stadium during the Valencia CF vs. Real Madrid CF match last season.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti himself stated that the actions cannot in any way be applied to the full Mestalla stadium.
The severity of this issue is clearly understood by the Club. Falsehoods and baseless accusations are ineffective in combating racism, which has no place in either football or society. Everyone must be involved in this matter, and Valencia CF is aware that in these kinds of protests, meticulous precision and responsibility are necessary.
Valencia CF requests that Vinicius Jr. officially retract his purported statement from this morning, arguing that the fans cannot be categorized as racist.
