Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker Vinícius Júnior, who had been selected for this Sunday’s derby against Atlético, a month after his biceps femoris injury, will be absent from the Merengue team, the club said.

“Vini Jr., last minute absence from the squad”, wrote Real Madrid on social media.

The attacker is out due to gastroenteritis.

The Brazilian, who has not played since August 25th, when he was injured in a game against Celta Vigo, had recovered ahead of schedule and was listed for the first time since then by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the duel against Atlético.
