Kylian Mbappé’s quest to overcome Ronaldo and Haaland in 2023

Kylian Mbappé, one of football’s premier goal-scorers, has started the 2023-24 season on fire, netting eight goals in just five matches. While the Paris Saint-Germain sensation is poised to contend for the title of the top striker in 2023, he faces competition from a couple of formidable contenders.

Mbappé has already found the back of the net 33 times this year, putting him in the hunt for the goal-scoring crown. Currently, only two players have outscored the Frenchman: Cristiano Ronaldo with 34 goals and Erling Haaland with a remarkable 37. With such a narrow gap, claiming the leading spot is well within Mbappé’s reach.

Notably, PSG’s attacking dynamics have undergone changes, but this hasn’t hampered Mbappé’s scoring prowess. Moreover, his goal tally could receive a significant boost when Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembélé become fully integrated into the team.

Kolo Muani has already demonstrated his ability to assist Mbappé, contributing to the PSG star’s performance in a recent 3-2 match against OGC Nice. Meanwhile, Dembélé, though yet to provide an assist, is actively creating numerous scoring opportunities. In a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund, the 26-year-old generated an impressive six key passes.

With Dembélé’s continued involvement, it’s only a matter of time before he plays a pivotal role in setting up Mbappé for more goals as they aim to close out 2023 in style.
