David de Gea may retire

Sad news: If ‘major teams’ interested in signing David de Gea do not meet one requirement, the 33-year-old goalkeeper may retire

The Guardian claims that if a large club does not offer him the starting goalkeeper position, the former Manchester United player may retire.

The 33-year-old’s 12 years aACy withdrew a contract offer.

Three months later, despite interest from the high-spending Saudi Pro League, De Gea is still training on his own and has not signed with a new team.

According to reports from Spain this week, both Real Betis and Valencia are interested in signing De Gea on a free transfer, but they recognize that he can only be their starting goalkeeper.

Although both teams meet the’major club’ criteria, with two of the largest fan bases in Spain, it is doubtful if either will be able to compete for the’major honours’ mentioned by The Guardian.

Despite his late-career problems, De Gea will be remembered fondly as a Manchester United hero thanks to his Premier League championship and five selections to the PFA Team of the Year.

Although Andre Onana was signed for £47.2 million from Inter Milan, the article states that the club did not treat him with the same level of respect and offered him a lower contract.

Since contract negotiations fell through in July following the end of the 2022–23 season, the former Spain international never got to sаy goodbye to the club’s fans at Old Trafford.
