The loss is the past, United’s preparing for Burnley on saturday

Victor Lindelof acknowledges that each of his Manchester United teammates is eager to swiftly return to action in Saturday’s clash against Burnley following our narrow defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.

United faced an early setback in the match as Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry netted in the first half, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring his debut goal for United at the beginning of the second half. Harry Kane’s penalty extended Bayern’s lead to 3-1, but midfielder Casemiro managed to narrow the gap as the match progressed. Bayern substitute Mathys Tel added a fourth for the home side, while United’s no. 18 completed his brace, resulting in a seven-goal thriller.

Victor partnered with Lisandro Martinez in the heart of the defense and acknowledged the formidable challenge posed by the Bundesliga champions. Speaking to MUTV, he commented, “I mean, coming here is always tough. We played against a very, very good team. We still managed to score three goals, but we didn’t get the result we wanted. So, of course, it’s frustrating as we wanted a better result, obviously.”

Addressing goalkeeper Andre Onana’s unfortunate error that led to Sane’s goal, the Sweden captain stood up for his new teammate, emphasizing that mistakes are part of football and the focus should be on how the team can recover.

“Mistakes are part of football. It happens, but it’s all about how we can bounce back from that,” Lindelof admitted. “We started the game well, and then, obviously, we conceded the first goal. After that, we just have to keep doing our job and keep playing the football that we want to. We came out in the second half and wanted to give it a good try, and we managed to score three goals. But like I said, in the end, we didn’t get the result we wanted. So, of course, it’s very frustrating.”

Turning attention to the Premier League campaign, Lindelof emphasized the importance of returning to winning ways at Turf Moor this weekend. With recovery and training planned for the squad in Germany and a quick turnaround back to Manchester, the focus is on bouncing back and securing three points on Saturday.

“In the Premier League, it’s always tough. It’s all about recovery, and like you said, we’re staying here tonight and we will try to get a good night’s sleep and recover well,” Victor added. “We then fly back to Manchester to prepare for the game on Saturday. Everyone is eager to play that game as well, to bounce back and get three points, and hopefully keep going after that.”
