Luis Enrique: Mbappe will carry PSG to the UCL title

In the summer of 2023, PSG embarked on a significant transformation by bidding farewell to a host of club legends, including Messi, Neymar, Marco Verratti, and Sergio Ramos.

They welcomed new talents such as Dembele, Kolo Muani, and Goncalo Ramos to shape the team around Kylian Mbappe.

Nevertheless, regardless of the squad composition, PSG’s primary objective remains winning the Champions League. Coach Luis Enrique, however, expressed a different perspective, believing that the team needed time to adapt to the post-Messi and Neymar era.

Enrique remarked, “When a club becomes obsessed with a goal, it’s not a positive sign. Ambition is essential, but obsession can be detrimental. PSG aims to entertain fans and bring them joy, but it should not be an obsession.”

In contrast to Coach Enrique, PSG’s star player, Kylian Mbappe, has a burning desire to win the Champions League, especially since he is in the final year of his contract and wishes to bring European glory to his hometown club.

Nonetheless, the Spanish coach emphasized that winning the Champions League requires collective effort, and no single player can achieve it alone.

“Can Mbappe win the Champions League for PSG? To secure the Champions League, you need a strong team, not just 11 players but 23. Every player must be prepared to contribute, regardless of their role in each match. Humility is essential when necessary, maintaining ambition on the field, and staying united with the team. You must be humble because sometimes your opponents may outperform you, but ambition is crucial to winning every match,” shared the former Barcelona coach.

Before harboring hopes of Champions League victory, Mbappe and his teammates must navigate their challenging group. On September 20 at 2:00 PM, PSG will face Dortmund in their first group match. Meanwhile, the other Group F match between AC Milan and Newcastle will take place on September 19 at 11:45 PM.
