In the midst of the sad goodbye tour for a Tigers legend, Miguel Cabrera received a lovely gift from the Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a classy organization, and they showed that once again. Before Monday’s game, the Los Angeles Dodgers honored retiring Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera. According to Jason Beck of MLB.com, they presented him with a star honoring Cabrera and a donation for his charitable work.

The team also recognized Ronald Acuna, Jr. of the Atlanta Braves for becoming the first player in MLB history with 30 home runs and 60 stolen bases in a single season. On September 2, Acuna’s old colleague, first baseman Freddie Freeman of the Braves, presented him with a second base bag from Dodger Stadium. Acuna became the first player in major league history to join the elite 30-60 club when he blasted a grand slam in a series against the Dodgers.

Miguel Cabrera is now in his 21st season in Major League Baseball. He played for the Marlins during the first five years of his career, while the team was based in Florida. In 2003, Cabrera was a rookie for the Marlins and won a World Series ring.

Cabrera was sent to the Tigers from the Marlins in December 2007 and has remained with them since then. In his 21 years as a professional baseball player, Cabrera has been named to 12 MLB All-Star Games and won seven Silver Slugger Awards.

With the Tigers, Miguel Cabrera earned the American League MVP award in 2012 and 2013. In 2012, he also took home the Triple Crown. In November of 2022, Cabrera announced that he would be retiring from baseball.

Cabrera has stated that he hopes to avoid any injuries in his final season as a major leaguer. The Tigers’ 20th season under Cabrera saw them win just 66 games due to the tоll taken by injuries. As of this writing, Detroit’s record is 70-79, meaning they will once again fail to make the playoffs.

Nonetheless, Miguel Cabrera has the support of the Dodgers organization moving on from baseball.
