Kees Vos has caused alarm within Man United’s personnel

Kees Vos, the agent of Erik ten Hag, has caused alarm within Man United’s personnel due to the agency’s role in the aforementioned Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat transactions.

Members of the Manchester United staff are worried about the increasing role played by Erik ten Hag’s agent, Kees Vos, in the club’s transfer dealings.

Mail Sport can reveаl that Vos’s Sports Entertainment Group has become United’s go-to agency for informal transfer market advise and negotiation of player acquisitions and sales.

The fact that Ten Hag’s son Nigel is an analyst at SEG is another evidence of the agency’s tight ties to the club.

During the busy window in which United spent £178 million on four new arrivals, SEG worked on player sales and signings, and Vos was a frequent visitor to Old Trafford and the club’s Carrington training site. Some of the things they did:

Joined the month before signing with United to represent Rasmus Hojlund on his £72 million transfer from Atalanta.

Representing United in talks with Fiorentina about United’s loan signing of Sofyan Amrabat, which includes an option to sign the Moroccan international permanently at the end of the season.

Zidane Iqbal, a 20-year-old midfielder for United, was sold to Utrecht in June, just two months after joining the agency from CAA Base, a rival.

Many other agents are complaining that they are being passed over for deals because of SEG’s close ties to Ten Hag.

Despite these criticisms, SEG has grown into a multimillion-dollar enterprise that represents 600 professional athletes. Since top Spanish agent Pere Guardiola joined the organization 18 months ago, introducing his brother Pep as a star client, the Netherlands-based company has also forged close relations with Manchester City.

Although SEG was instrumental in the signings of Robin van Persie, Memphis Depay, and Daley Blind for United in the past, they had not been associated with the club since 2021 until they facilitated the transaction that led to the hiring of Ten Hag as manager in May 2022.

There is not a single reference to SEG in any of the 45 intermediary transactions involving United that were revealed by the FA between February 2022 and January 2023.

There have been complaints about Ten Hag only recruiting athletes he is familiar with in the past. Last year, he brought Antony and Lisandro Martinez with him from Ajax.

Andre Onana, United’s new starting goalkeeper, and Nordin Amrabat, a midfielder, both played under Ten Hag at Ajax and Utrecht.

A SEG insider stated categorically that Vos played no part in the talks with West Ham regarding Maguire. They mentioned that the United transactions were for only about one percent of their revenue this summer, and that overall, the company was involved in over 300 transfers.

According to insiders close to Manchester United, it is not uncommon for elite clubs to have strong affiliations with particular agencies due to personal relationships built by its senior staff.

United admitted that their closeness to Vos had become a topic of conversation, but stated that their top brass was fine with it.

Manchester United’s official spokesperson remained mum.
