Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo, who recently suffered a knee injury, could be set to return to action sooner than expected, according to journalist Nathan Gissing.
Caicedo was sidelined for Chelsea’s recent Premier League encounter with Bournemouth due to the knee issue he sustained while on international duty. However, Gissing took to Twitter to share some reassuring news regarding the player’s recovery.
“Moises Caicedo misses out on today’s game against Bournemouth due to a minor knee problem that he sustained on international duty,” the journalist posted. “It’s understood to be nothing serious, and [he] is expected to be available for the next match.”
This latest setback adds to Caicedo’s challenges since joining Chelsea. The 21-year-old midfielder faced criticism after conceding a penalty in his debut against West Ham United and being involved in a mistake leading to Anthony Elanga’s goal for Nottingham Forest against the Blues just before the international break.
Despite his rocky start, Caicedo is regarded as a quality player who could find his stride at Chelsea. In the previous season, he averaged 2.7 tackles per game in the Premier League, the highest among Brighton & Hove Albion’s squad members.
However, Chelsea has been grappling with a series of injuries, with key players like Christopher Nkunku and Reece James also sidelined. This string of injuries has raised questions about how effective the team can be this season, especially with strong competition from clubs like Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool, making a top-four finish a challenging prospect.
