Oswaldo Cabrera, a member of the New York Yankees, chooses a strange situation in which to try out his new batting strategy: Why not?

Oswaldo Cabrera, for the first time in his professional career, chose the seventh inning of a tied game to Һit left-handed against a left-hander.

The unexpecteԀ Cabrera had been considering the notion recently, as he was finding greater success batting from the left side as he attempted to get his career back on track.

On Sunday, with the game tied and a runner on first, the Pirates called in left-handed reliever Ryan Borucki. Cabrera decided to take a swing.

In what way? The Yankees lost 3-2 in Pittsburgh because of a strikeout.

It was a strikeout, but Cabrera reported feeling OK afterward. “I realize the odds were stacked against me, but I figured, ‘Why not?'” If I don’t at least try. Is there any hope? I was asked to play first base despite never having done so before. To my knowledge, I was the only person to ever play in center field. I meаn, why not?”

On Saturday night, Cabrera and the Pirates’ left-handed reliever Jose Hernandez had discussed the possibility of his batting left-handed against Hernandez, but the inning ended before he could do it.

Manager Aaron Boone remarked, “With Borucki there, probably would have preferred him to stay from the right side.” However, this is something he has been considering for particular matchups.

Cabrera, who is naturally a right-handed batter, had nearly comparable splits this season (albeit with greater power from the right side), but he has stated repeatedly that he is feeling more at ease hitting from the left side.

Is there a chance he’ll stop switching and Һit only from the left side in the future?

It’s not on Cabrera’s mind at the moment. But I’m really trying to perfect my left-handed golf swing.

“No plans of that right now,” Boone clarified. “But hey, you never know.”

On Sunday, Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s Frankie Montas (shoulder surgery) started and tossed one inning, allowing one run on one Һit and one walk with two strikeouts.

It was the start of Montas’ rehab assignment, and he is not anticipated to return to the Bronx until the end of the season and the start of free agency.

Two days after taking a 100.6 mph line drive to the head, Anthony Misiewicz (concussion symptoms) was scheduled to return to New York with the club on Sunday.

“A smile on his face and a little pep in his step,” Boone said of the reliever when he arrived at PNC Park for Saturday’s game.

“The initial scans and tests came back fine,” Boone added.

We’re going to keep an eye on it. When we get home, he will also see our loved ones.

After hurting his leg on a set of stairs in Boston, Everson Pereira missed his fourth consecutive game on Sunday.

Boone assured that everything was well with him. This is still a day-to-day thing. You can’t do it today. Well, we have to wait and see. With any luck, he’ll be ready to go on Tuesday after resting tonight and tomorrow.
