Real Madrid midfielder opens up about his final years

Isco, a former Real Madrid player, has stated that he only wants Los Blancos to win La Liga this year if Real Betis fail to do so.

Isco, 31, discussed various topics with reporters following Real Betis’ recent 5-0 loss to Barcelona. He also acknowledged that he should have left Madrid much earlier than he really did.

Isco played for Madrid for nine seasons, and while his first few seasons there were excellent, his appearances gradually decreased as his time there came to a close.

In contrast, he appeared in more than 50 games in each of his first two seasons, but in his final two seasons, he only played in 29 and 17 games, respectively.

“Even if I believe I could have played more, I don’t feel as though I have received unjust treatment in recent years. Football is a complicated game, and you need to know how to adjust to every circumstance. I concentrate more on what I can accomplish than what others can,” the midfielder was cited by AS as saying.

Back at Santiago BernabeuReal Madrid aren’t facing Betis at home until the final matchday of the 2023-24 season, but the midfielder has said that he hopes to receive a good reception from the fans because Madrid was the ‘most important team’ of his career.

“Real Madrid was the most significant team in my sporting career, and I will always love and appreciate them. As a result, I would like to get a warm welcome from the fans.

“I always tried to provide my best effort, but considering my circumstances at the end, maybe I should have left earlier. But you can always learn something, he replied.

His favorite La Liga teamsLastly, when asked which team is he rooting for to win the league, he added that although Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico are all favourites, he is supporting Real Madrid, but only after Betis.

“The top contenders for LaLiga are Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético de Madrid. Real Madrid had a solid start, but it is too early to place a wager because the Spanish League is lengthy. Let Real Madrid win if Betis can’t,” he continued.
