Man United vs Brighton: Bad defense and the nightmare returns

MU’s defense played so poorly that they allowed the opponent to concede 3 times.

MU faces Brighton at Old Trafford in round 5 of the Premier League. Hojlund and Reguilon were put on the field from the start while the away team was missing many key players. Erik Ten Hag’s students rushed forward to attack from the beginning, but Rashford and Hojlund could not take advantage of the opportunity.

The away team did not attack much but was very effective. In the 20th minute, Brighton had a coherent attack on the right wing and Welbeck ran in and finished from close range, opening the score. After scoring a goal, the away team retreated to defend firmly.

MU stepped up the attack and created many good opportunities. Hojlund had a good cover and then shot the ball into the opponent’s net. Unfortunately, the goal was not recognized because Rashford let the ball float out earlier. At the end of the first half, Brighton had the advantage over MU.

At the beginning of the second half, the home team continued to attack. Rashford continued to squander opportunities while Brighton did the opposite. In the 53rd minute, MU’s defense did not cooperate well and Gross handled it calmly and finished the ball into Onana’s net.

Ten Hag replaced people to find a difference, but what MU got next was still a goal. In the 71st minute, Joao Pedro curled a shot from outside the penalty area to beat Onana. 2 minutes later, Mejbri rekindled hope for MU with a good long-range shot.

Unfortunately, in the rest of the match, MU could not find more goals. Even if Onana is not excellent, the home team could lose more. In the end, MU lost 1-3 to Brighton.

Final score: MU 1-3 Brighton (H1: 0-1)
