Anthony Misiewicz, a reliever for the Yankees, was Һit in the head by a line drive traveling at 100.6 miles per hour on Friday night at PNC Park.

In the sixth inning, Ji Hwan Bae Һit a blistering line drive.

Misiewicz, a lefty, tried to divert the ball with his glove but missed, and it went flying off his face and into right field.

Misiewicz collapsed to the ground, and trainers rushed to tend to him while his teammates got down on their knees around him and Aaron Judge ran all the way from right field to the mound to check on him.Misiewicz stood up after a while, with a towel over his left face, and was taken off the field in a cart.

The 28-year-old Misiewicz was playing in his third game with the Yankees since being promoted from Triple-A last Sunday.

On Friday night, Ji Hwan Bae of the Pittsburgh Pirates Һit New York Yankees reliever Anthony Misiewicz in the face with a line drive. Misiewicz was forced to leave the game.

With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, Bae smacked a line drive up the middle at 100.6 mph. Misiewicz, a lefty, put up his glove in an attempt to catch it. The glove arrived too late to help. Misiewicz took a direct strike to the face before the ball rolled into right field.

Misiewicz, now 28 years old, was treated by medical staff while lying on the ground for many minutes. He got to his feet and walked over to a cart, where he placed a towel over his left cheek.

Bae’s RBI single tied the game at 3 for the Pirates.
