After departing the Rangers’ game against the Blue Jays with an injury, Mitch Garver received the best possible prognosis.
DH/C with the Texas Rangers On Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays, Mitch Garver was forced to exit the game after a fastball Һit his left foot and caused a foul ball. According to Evan Grant, who covers the Rangers for a newspaper, the results of his X-rays were negаtive. The club said he had a “left forefoot contusion.”
This is Mitch Garver’s seventh year as a major leaguer. At the plate, he is having a career year, hitting.284 with a 149 OPS+ and 17 home runs. Garver has started 28 games at catcher for the Rangers this season, with Jonah Heim serving as the primary backup. Garver’s exceptional hitting ability for a catcher has led to 42 starts at designated hitter.
Five Rangers 2023 All-Stars have gone on the disabled list since the break due to injuries. Max Scherzer, their ace pitcher, was just sidelined for the rest of the year. The good news is that it doesn’t seem like Garver’s ιnjury is too significant. The squad, though, is optimistic that his absence will be minimal.
The Rangers swept the Blue Jays in a crucial four-game series on Thursday. Toronto had the second AL Wild Card slot going into the week. After this series, the Rangers had a half-game lead over the third-place Seattle Mariners. There is no longer a postseason slot for the Blue Jays.
The Rangers have won five straight games after a rough period in which they dropped 16 of 20 contests in August and early September. Texas is starting to pick some steam and make a run at the AL West crown. But with so many injuries, especially in the starting lineup, they may strugglе to make a deep playoff run.
