Paris Saint-Germain will be busy the next few days, but they might have received bad news on Tuesday. The French national team fell 2-1 to Germany at Signal Iduna Park. Afterward, manager Didier Deschamps revealed that Kylian Mbappé is dealing with an injury.
Mbappé didn’t play in the friendly, and Deschamps notes that the Frenchman’s patella tendon is bothering him. The news isn’t ideal, considering the UEFA Champions League kicks off next week.
“Mbappé has a problem with his patella tendon which, although minor, bothers him,” Deschamps told reporters. “If I don’t start him, bringing him in won’t improve his situation. I have no risks to take in such a match.”
PSG will have a game on Friday against OGC Nice at the Parc des Princes. So the capital club must decide whether to play or rest him for Tuesday’s Champions League contest. Borussia Dortmund will visit the Parc des Princes to start the group stage.
It will be interesting to see what the Ligue 1 giants decide to do here. The Parisians built up their depth for instances like this. So, will they have Mbappé play before the Dortmund game? It remains to be seen.
