The quest for a new jersey sponsor for Manchester United is finished after the team announced that an agreement had been reached with US software company Snapdragon.
The software behemoth is a division of Qualcomm, a tech corporation that had been in talks with United about becoming the team’s new front-of-shirt sponsor.
After revealing last year that their current sponsorship with TeamViewer wouldn’t be extended, the Red Devils have been looking for new shirt sponsors.
The club has been looking for new funding ever since they later revealed that an agreement had been reached for United to buy back its front-of-shirt sponsorship rights.
A brief press release from United on Tuesday that stated: “Manchester United PLC has agreed to an expanded strategic collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., which will see the Snapdragon brand displayed on the club’s famous shirts” made the announcement of their new sponsor.
With US company Snapdragon, Manchester United has agreed to a new jersey sponsorship arrangement
At the end of the season, United’s current sponsorship agreement with Team Viewer will expire
‘Qualcomm Technologies is already pushing its Snapdragon brand as a global partner of Manchester United. The most expensive goods from the biggest brands in the world, including smartphones, PCs, gaming consoles, wearable technology, and connected cars, are powered by Snapdragon processors.
According to the revised arrangement, Snapdragon will start appearing on the men’s and women’s teams’ home, away, and third kits in 2024/25 as Manchester United’s front-of-shirt partner.
According to reports from Monday, United is aiming for a deal worth £60 million annually as they want to increase revenue through exclusive sponsorship relationships.
Any such agreement with Qualcomm might put United ahead of Real Madrid and Fly Emirates, who now hold the largest shirt sponsorship package.
The new shirt sponsor for United will appear on the first team’s home, away, and third jerseys
In addition, Snapdragon will appear on the women’s shirts as part of the agreement, taking the place of current sponsor Team Viewer
Given the quantity of jerseys currently in use, it was decided to postpone the rebranding until next season, therefore United will finish the current campaign wearing shirts with Team Viewer emblems.
Along with the men’s and women’s teams’ away and third uniforms, the famous home red shirt from United will sport the Snapdragon logo.
The agreement is made at a time when hostilities between United’s owners and its devoted fan base are on the rise, with supporters routinely staging protests against the Glazer family.
The prolonged process, which was supposed to begin in November of last year, has infuriated United supporters who want the club to be sold to a new owner.
