According to reports, Manchester City is thinking about selling Julian Alvarez to Real Madrid this summer in order to pay for Pep Guardiola’s top transfer priority.
The manager has been considering other attacking possibilities to add to the lineup because the only recognized forwards at Man City at the moment are Haaland, Grealish, Foden, Alvarez, and Doku.
According to reports, Guardiola has now made a striker from the Premier League his primary objective. But in order to close a deal, he could have to sell Alvarez.
Real Madrid reportedly has a genuine interest in the Argentine international, as reported by our pals at TEAMtalk.
Following the departure of Karim Benzema, Carlo Ancelotti is eager to bolster his attack with another top-tier striker and is a major fan of Alvarez.
Although Real Madrid is also interested in Haaland, they may not be able to complete a move for him because the Norwegian international is negotiating a new contract with Manchester City.
A move for Alvarez would be more likely in light of that. SPORT reports that Real Madrid want to sign Alvarez “within the next year.”
Alvarez won the treble with Manchester City last year, but it’s believed that he would be open to moving to the Bernabeu in exchange for more consistent playing time.
Only 13 of Cityzens’ Premier League games last season saw the World Cup winner start. Alvarez, though, has started each of their four games this season, contributing to one assist and scoring two goals.
Alvarez is rumored to be worried that his playing time may decrease once more, therefore Real Madrid’s ‘lucrative offer’ would lure him.
If Alvarez were to depart, Man City might focus on Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.
As previously said, Guardiola thinks highly of the 18-year-old. He has had a remarkable start to the season, scoring four goals in his first four Premier League games, only one goal behind Haaland’s (6) total.
Ferguson, however, would not be a cheap addition. According to Sky Sports, Brighton would only accept bids for the Ireland international that were in the neighborhood of £120 million, which only serves to highlight how highly Roberto de Zerbi views him.
However, despite having previously ranked Ferguson at the top of his transfer shortlist, Guardiola may decide to trade Alvarez to Real Madrid in order to obtain money for Ferguson.
Therefore, when the transfer window reopens in January, Ferguson is unquestionably a player who Man City supporters should keep an eye out for.
