Despite the tensions at Manchester United, Gareth Southgate has communicated with Jadon Sancho

Sancho has earned 23 caps for England, but he last played for the national team in October of 2021.

The winger has struggled since joining United from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million, and he is currently out of Southgate’s consideration for inclusion in the national team.

So far in 82 appearances for United, he has 12 goals and six assists, while he scored 50 goals and has 64 assists for the Bundesliga giants in 137 games.

After a public disagreement with Erik ten Hag, during which he accused his manager of lying about the 23-year-old not training hard enough, his condition has recently worsened.

Reports indicate that Sancho wants to leave Old Trafford in January after crucial conversations with Ten Hag failed to address the pair’s problems, casting doubt on his future with the Red Devils.

Sancho’s international career is in rιsk along with his club career, but Southgate insists that Sancho, like any other England player, can earn his way back into the Three Lions group.

“I think that’s the challenge for him now,” Southgate said of Scotland in an interview before England’s friendly on Tuesday.

It’s been almost a year since we last worked with him, so I can’t sаy for sure what he’s up to or where he stands at the moment.

“But for every player who isn’t on the team right now, there’s always an opportunity if they can seize the form and have the [right] level of performances,” he said.

Sancho’s poor form and physical difficulties deprived him a spot in the 2022 World Cup, and it appears unlikely that he can restore his place in time for Euro 2024 next year.

With Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka’s starting XI spots apparently cemented in stone, the competition for forward positions is fierce. Players like Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, and many more are in the mix.
