Former captain Gary Cahill believes that Chelsea needs time to reap the rewards while it is in the process of rebuilding its force with many young players in the squad. Since changing ownership, Chelsea has spent more than 1 billion pounds in the transfer market to replace almost the entire force. However, the Blues’ achievements have not been as expected.
Last season, Chelsea caused great disappointment when ranked only 12th in the Premier League. After 4 matches this season, the home team at Stamford Bridge has only won 1.
Witnessing the difficulties that Chelsea is going through, former captain Gary Cahill called on fans to be patient. The former midfielder, born in 1985, believes that the old team needs time to build during the reconstruction process.Gary Cahill said:
“During our successful period, Chelsea had a core structure. Then, if we add 1-2 positions, it will be much easier for new recruits to integrate.
Currently, Chelsea has many new players. When a team has so many changes in a short period of time, it takes time. The current Chelsea players clearly have the ability, but they need time to integrate and gain experience. The recent unsatisfactory results will certainly help Chelsea learn many necessary things. They are being led by a good coach who has a lot of experience in the Premier League and certainly knows how to help the team get through this period.
Obviously things are not going well for Chelsea right now. But the Chelsea squad at this time has a very young average age and includes many newly assembled players. Most of them do not have much experience in the Premier League. Surely everything will not be easy and it will take time.
But Chelsea currently has great potential. I went with the team on a pre-season tour. I was very impressed with the players when watching training sessions. Be patient and give the young players time to develop.”
