In the first game of the series, Rangers right-hander Dane Dunning (9-6, 3.88) will face Chris Bassitt (14-7, 3.69).
In place of Nathan Eovaldi on Tuesday against the Astros in Houston, Dunning made his final pitch. He pitched 5 and a third innings while allowing 11 hits and nine earned runs. He walked two times and struck out four. Dunning is 1-2 with a 5.54 ERA in his previous seven games, six of which he started.

Tuesday sees the Blue Jays sending out left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu (3-2, 2.65), while Texas starts right-hander Max Scherzer (12-6, 3.91).
In his final start on Wednesday against Houston, Scherzer only lasted three innings while allowing six hits and seven earned runs. He walked two times and struck out four. He has made seven starts in the past, going 3-2 with a 3.63 ERA. He has walked 14 times and struck out 51.
In his final start on Wednesday against Oakland, Ryu worked five innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs. He walked one and struck out five times. He has a 3-2 record with a 2.65 ERA in his previous seven outings.
Jordan Montgomery (8-11, 3.62) of the Rangers will face Yusei Kikuchi (9-5, 3.57) in the third game on Wednesday.
With eight hits and five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings against Oakland on Friday, Montgomery’s last start ended in a loss. He had six strikeouts and one walk. He has a 4.20 ERA, a 2-2 record, 36 strikeouts, and eight walks in his last seven outings.
In his Friday game against Kansas City, Kikuchi had a no-decision. In his five innings of work, he allowed three hits and one earned run. He walked one while walking eight. He is 1-2 with a 2.97 ERA, 44 strikeouts, and 10 walks in his previous seven outings.
Toronto right-hander Kevin Gausman will face off against Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (11-4, 2.90) in the series finale on Thursday.
After being placed on the injured list for more than a month, Eovaldi is now regaining his strength. He pitched two and a third innings in his second start since being activated on Saturday, allowing three hits but no runs. He walked twice and struck out three times.
On Saturday against Kansas City, Gausman got the start and won after pitching eight innings while allowing two hits and one earned run. He walked one and struck out ten. He has a 3-3 record and a 3.86 ERA in his previous seven outings.
The Rangers begin a three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians on Friday after the Jays.
