Chelsea legend John Terry has expressed his admiration for Levi Colwill and Reece James, naming them as his two favorite Chelsea players at the moment.
During a recent live event, Terry shared his thoughts on various topics, with journalist Simon Phillips quoting his remarks. The 42-year-old praised Colwill’s performance, describing him as “brilliant so far” despite having only made five senior appearances for Chelsea.
Terry also emphasized the importance of keeping Reece James fit, especially after the Chelsea No.24 suffered another setback in the recent 1-1 draw against Liverpool. Terry stated, “The two I love, I love Reece. I love Levi. He’s got loads more to come, he’s been brilliant so far. (It’s) Important that Reece stays fit and gets his body where it needs to be.”
It’s heartening to see Terry highlight two Chelsea academy graduates as his favorite players, particularly one who has inherited his iconic No.26 shirt. In our assessment, Colwill shows great promise at just 20 years old and is likely to become a regular starter for Chelsea in the coming years.
As for James, there is growing concern among the fanbase. The 23-year-old managed only 14 Premier League starts last season and recently had to leave the pitch during the opening match against Liverpool due to fitness issues. If James faces another significant setback this season, manager Mauricio Pochettino may have to rely more on Malo Gusto than initially planned.
