Chelsea is reportedly keeping a close eye on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as a potential signing in the upcoming January transfer window. This information comes from well-regarded journalist Simon Phillips.
During a recent podcast on his Substack, Phillips revealed that Chelsea is monitoring Victor Osimhen’s contract situation at Napoli. The 24-year-old striker is among the top players being considered by the Blues for a potential transfer in January. Phillips stated, “[Victor] Osimhen’s dream is still alive, although I don’t see it happening. Chelsea is watching his contract situation closely. He hasn’t signed a new deal yet, but it appears he’s on the verge of doing so.”
In June, The Daily Mail reported that Victor Osimhen was valued at £150 million. He has made an impressive start to the current season, scoring three goals in his first three Serie A appearances. Last season, Osimhen netted 31 goals across all competitions for Napoli.
Many Chelsea fans had hoped the club would make a significant investment in Osimhen during the summer transfer window, rather than dispersing funds across multiple signings. Consequently, Osimhen is seen as a ‘dream’ option for the club.
However, Chelsea may also consider giving opportunities to Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja to prove themselves as potential future stars for the club in the striker position.
