Braves power past cardinals with 5 homers to snap losing streak

The Atlanta Braves found their long-lost home run groove as they blasted five homers to secure an 8-5 victory against the St. Louis Cardinals, breaking a three-game losing streak and salvaging a win from their recent three-game series.

Matt Olson extended his impressive home run streak to four consecutive games, with a pivotal 410-foot shot to center field in the fifth inning, breaking a 3-3 tie. This latest home run marked Olson’s 47th of the season, putting him just four shy of matching the team’s record of 51 set by Andruw Jones in 2005.

Ronald Acuna Jr., the Braves’ leadoff dynamo, made his presence felt right from the start, launching a solo home run in the opening inning and adding his 34th homer in the sixth. Acuna’s sixth leadoff home run of the year and the 32nd of his career demonstrated his prowess. It was also his 12th multi-homer game, with three of them occurring this season.

In the sixth inning, Michael Harris II contributed with a solo homer, his 14th of the season, and Travis d’Arnaud followed suit with a two-run homer in the seventh, his 11th. Notably, the Braves hammered a total of 11 homers during the three-game series, with 10 of them being solo shots.

Max Fried, the Braves’ starter, pitched six solid innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He also recorded two walks and four strikeouts, earning the win with a 7-1 record. On the opposing side, Cardinals’ starter Adam Wainwright (3-11) completed 5 2/3 innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, three walks, and four strikeouts. This marked his final career appearance against the Braves, the team that drafted him in the first round back in 2000.
