Fantasy baseball’s starting pitcher streamer rankings

Since Thursday is a travel day for the Majors, we only have six games scheduled for tonight. There won’t be many beginning pitching choices available during the stretch run of fantasy baseball, but don’t worry—there’s always value to be discovered if you know where to look. That’s where our daily starting pitcher rankings come in. We’re here to break it all down with suggestions on who to start, who to sit, and who to watch off the waiver wire. Today’s lineup features some top players like Luis Castillo, Max Fried, and Carlos Rodon, but there are also some lesser-known players who might succeed.

Pitchers to stream on Thursday, September 7’s starting pitcher rankingsLos Angeles Dodgers’ Ryan Pepiot Pepiot appears to have built a claim to L.A.’s fifth rotation position after five more strong innings last week against the Arizona Diamondbacks, especially with Julio Urias’ future being so uncertain at the present. Injury setbacks prevented Pepiot from finishing his season, but he was showing a lot of promise last year (3.47 ERA, 47 Ks in 36.1 IP), and he’s carried that momentum into 2023 by displaying an improved walk rate to go with his devastating fastball/changeup combination. The Marlins destroyed Lance Lynn on Wednesday, but they haven’t been a particularly strong team this year against right-handed pitchers, thus Pepiot still has a decent chance of winning this game.

he Cleveland Guardians’ Cal Quantrill Although Quantrill will never have a lot of strikeout potential, he has quietly managed to turn things around after a poor start to the season. The right-hander defeated the feared Rays in his previous start with six innings of two-run ball, and he will face an Angels team that has one of the poorest offenses in all of baseball in the second half on Thursday. Quantrill is as strong a chance for a quality start as you’re likely to find on the waiver wire since Cleveland allows its pitchers a lot of leeway.

The Los Angeles Angels’ Griffin Canning — On Thursday, Canning, who was reintroduced into L.A.’s rotation a few weeks ago, will face off against Quantrill. A depleted Guardians lineup that hasn’t been doing much lately (third-worst team OPS over the last three weeks) should have no problem being destroyed by the righty, who has only given up three runs while striking out 16 batters in his last 13 innings. If he has the feel for all of his breaking balls again tonight.
