One of the numerous senior free agents that the Dodgers signed this offseason was Miguel Rojas.
He has not, however, had the same effect at the plate this season as players like Jason Heyward, David Peralta, and J.D. Martinez.
With the exception of DH Martinez, all three of the listed guys have turned their careers around and are now playing excellent corner outfield for the Dodgers.
In contrast, Rojas has been excelling on defense to make up for his disappointing season at the plate.
Dave Roberts still believes that Rojas will make a significant bat contribution despite all of this.
Roberts predicted that “he will get big hits for us this postseason.” “I am positive about it. I agree with it. I can see it.
Rojas is only hitting.225 this season with a low average after having a 1-4 night in his Miami comeback.581 OPS as well, but Rojas’ season at the plate witnessed a small improvement in August.
Although Rojas is not a power hitter, it was remarkable for him to have zero home runs at this stage in the season with 242 at-bats.
With three home runs and a.713 OPS in 72 at-bats in the month of August, Rojas showed some pop in his bat.
Prior to Tuesday’s game, Rojas had a recent.303 average and a.755 OPS in his previous 15 days.
All the while still providing superior shortstop defense while in play.
Rojas will present another challenge for opposing teams in the postseason if he can maintain his outstanding defense while hitting in the league average range.
The Dodgers’ bottom of the order has recently been a terrific area of strength, and if they keep playing like they are, they will be creating postseason memories in Dodger blue.
