Despite Jack Grealish’s ιnjury, Raheem Sterling will not be included in England’s roster

Despite a strong start to the season, Southgate decided not to include Sterling in his squad to face Ukrаine and Scotland during the international break.

With players like Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, and Eberechi Eze ahead of him in the pecking order, it will be difficult for the Chelsea attacker to start with Harry Kane for England.

Both Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool and Jack Grealish of Watford, who both suffered hamstring injuries against Aston Villa on Sunday, have since been forced to withdrаw from the match.

The FA revealed on Monday that Southgate has decided not to add anyone to the team, meaning Sterling will continue to sit out the forthcoming games along with the other two stars.

When naming the squad last week, Southgate said that he was happy to see Sterling performing well, but that he was now ranked below the other forward candidates.

We were quite satisfied with the team, as Southgate put it. A player must be benched in order to make room for Raheem, and I don’t think anyone deserves to be dropped after just three games with the club. Raheem’s strong start to the season is great news. He certainly presents as fit and hungry, but we have a lot of competition for playing time in the attacking spots behind the nine.

Since the squad announcement, Sterling has had a difficult experience as Chelsea lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

On September 9, England will play Ukrаine in a qualification match for the European Championship.
