According to the English Football Association, forward Bukayo Saka was selected England Men’s Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
Fans chose Arsenal’s Saka, 22, as the best player of the 2022–23 campaign, beating out Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, who finished second and third, respectively.
In the past 12 months, Saka, who made his England debut in October 2020, has scored seven goals in ten games, including three goals at the 2022 World Cup.
He won player of the match honors in England’s opening 6-2 victory against Iran in Qatar, as well as the victories over Ukraine and North Macedonia in the Euro 2024 qualifying matches, the latter of which featured his first hat-trick of his professional career.
Saka, who celebrated his 22nd birthday with the surprise announcement at England’s training facility, St. George’s Park, was recently named the PFA Young Player of the Season and a member of the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
The FA stated that the 2022–23 England Women’s Player of the Year will be revealed later in September.
