Speculation about Sancho’s future at Manchester United has intensified following a clash with manager Erik ten Hag over the weekend. Sancho found himself omitted from the squad for their match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Ten Hag, addressing Sancho’s absence post-game, cited his failure to meet the required “level” for selection.
In response, Sancho refuted the claims, stating, “Please refrain from believing everything you read. I will not tolerate baseless accusations. I have maintained a strong work ethic during this week’s training sessions. I believe there are underlying reasons for this situation that I won’t delve into further. I’ve felt unfairly targeted for some time.”
Sancho’s arrival at Old Trafford had generated immense excitement, particularly since he had made a lasting impression during his initial visit to Carrington while playing for Manchester City. At that time, Sancho was a standout talent in City’s academy, featuring alongside Brahim Diaz and Phil Foden during his first season in the Under-18s setup.
Despite Sancho initially starting the aforementioned game on the bench, his remarkable record of scoring seven goals in 11 appearances prompted his introduction as a game-changer. He played a pivotal role in securing a 1-1 draw against their arch-rivals, leaving Red Devils’ management stunned and eager to secure his services.
Sancho ultimately chose to join Borussia Dortmund due to uncertainties regarding his path to City’s first team before eventually making the move to Manchester United in 2021.
