Mason Greenwood, a former forward for Manchester United, joined Getafe on loan on Friday after leaving his former team after a criminal investigation into an alleged attempted rape was closed by prosecutors.
Right before the summer market ended, the acquisition was announced.
Since January 2022, the 21-year-old English forward hasn’t appeared for United.
Following the publication of pictures and videos online, Greenwood was accused of engaging in coercive and controlling behavior as well as assault involving a lady.
English prosecutors ended their investigation in February, stating that “there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction” as a result of “the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light.”
However, the player and United determined last month that it would be best for them to part ways and for him to find a new club.
United announced in a statement that the transfer “enables Greenwood to begin to rebuild his career away from Manchester United.” Mason and his family will continue to receive assistance from the club throughout this time of change.
Greenwood will be a part of a Getafe team that will probably fight to stay in the league.
