Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti ‘Very Happy’ with Squad Despite No Mbappé

Real Madrid will not have Kylian Mbappé coming to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for a second straight summer transfer window. After the 24-year-old opted not to trigger the option to extend his contract until 2025, many assumed that he was heading to Los Blancos.

Furthermore, Paris Saint-Germain had the winger training with the undesirables and missed the summer tour to Asia. Nonetheless, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was integrated back into the squad after the departure of Neymar Jr.

Then there’s the additions of Ousmane Dembélé and Randal Kolo Muani, which might have the Frenchman in a happy mood. Still, even without landing Mbappé, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is content with the squad.

“I don’t see what sense that has,” Ancelotti told reporters (h/t SPORT). “I’m not talking about Mbappé because he is a PSG player, and we respect all those who are outside. What I can say, as a fan of my team, is that I live it with great enthusiasm every summer because each one has the illusion that it is going to be a spectacular year.

“It has happened many times, and hopefully this one, again. The squad is complete [and] competitive. We can find ourselves with problems throughout the season, but I’m very happy. There is a team to compete with anyone.”

Mbappé has yet to sign a contract extension, so Real Madrid is taking a gamble that they’ll land the player when he becomes a free agent in 2024. Ancelotti had alternative plans, but the Spanish giants only have eyes for the PSG star.

Will they land him, or will the Frenchman sign an extension? Buckle your seatbelts because this rollercoaster isn’t over.
