Manchester United loan Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina for £8m with a £21m option to buy… Erik ten Hag finally gets his man on deadline day

Manchester United has signed Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on a deadline day loan.

United will pay an £8m loan fee and have the option to purchase the 27-year-old Moroccan for £17m and £4m in add-ons at the end of the season.

Amrabat cannot debut against Arsenal on Sunday due to late registration by the Friday 12pm deadline.

Mail Sport understands Fiorentina preferred an obligation over a buyout.

However, the large loan fee was a reasonable compromise to close the deal.

Man United will loan Sofyan Amrabat for £8million and have the option to buy him for £21million.

Erik ten Hag finally scored a midfielder he wanted.

Matt Hargreaves, Manchester United’s director of football negotiations, traveled to Italy to finalize the deal for Amrabat.

Mail Sport understands that United must activate the option to buy Amrabat by May, and Fiorentina has time before his contract expires.

The deal for Amrabat strengthened Man United’s squad, according to Ten Hag: ‘I think we have done good business.

‘We built a strong squad and are ready to fight.’

Erik ten Hag had hoped to sign another midfielder in the summer, but financial fair play concerns prevented him from doing so. A loan deal for Amrabat was the most likely option.

Despite hard negotiations with Serie A all summer, Ten Hag got his man. Fiorentina wanted United to sign the 27-year-old permanently but settled for a loan.

Amrabat could make his Man United debut on September 16 against Brighton at Old Trafford.

On deadline day, United loaned Sergio Reguilon from Spurs to replace Luke Shaw.
