Lazio may offer Mason Greenwood the opportunity to resurrect his career, according to rumors.
The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges in February of this year, but Greenwood will not resume his career at Manchester United after the club announced, following the conclusion of an internal investigation, that he would no longer play at Old Trafford.
Greenwood could resurrect his career in Italy with Serie A giants Lazio under former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, according to the Daily Mail.
Lazio are reportedly ‘in talks’ to acquire Greenwood on a potential free transfer from Manchester United, who are looking to offload the forward before the transfer deadline.
United still has two years remaining on Greenwood’s current contract, but after making the striker’s status abundantly obvious, the club is looking to move the England international off the roster.
Transfer Time Limit Day in England and Italy leaves the two clubs with very little wiggle room to close a deal, and severely restricts Greenwood’s potential destinations.
Previously, it was reported that the versatile forward could join Turkish side Besiktas, one of two Suρer Lig clubs interested in loaning him.
With the Turkish transfer window remaining open until September 8, Besiktas and other Turkish clubs would have additional time to negotiate a deal for Greenwood.
The transfer window does not conclude in Saudi Arabia until September 20.
Erik ten Hag has already experienced a hectic transfer deadline day, with three expected arrivals at Old Trafford. Altay Bayindir, a Turkish goalkeeper, was verified on Friday morning, and the club is closing in on the loan signings of Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat.
