Erik ten Hag expressed his satisfaction with Manchester United’s summer transfer activity, hinting at the potential announcement of another signing before the end of the day. Sergio Reguilon, the Spaniard, trained with his new teammates for the first time today, and he could make his debut against Arsenal on Sunday.
Manchester United opted to secure Reguilon on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur after Luke Shaw suffered an injury that could sideline him for up to 10 weeks. Additionally, it’s understood that the new goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, has been registered in time to travel with the squad to London.
Regarding the availability of new arrivals for the weekend fixture, Ten Hag stated, “Potentially, yes, could be because we have to register them by now. He (Reguilon) is here, he trained. He’s a very experienced player, played for big clubs, already played a lot of La Liga and Premier League games. He has a very good background, he can play very intense football, so we are happy. We had a problem with Luke Shaw injured and Tyrell Malacia injured; they are long-term out, so we responded well in that emergency situation. He will be in the squad as well, yeah, so happy. Now we have to keep the group, again it’s fully there. We’ve covered every position, and I think we have a very good ‘keeper group arrival in Altay.”
Furthermore, when asked about the potential signing of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, Ten Hag acknowledged the rumors, saying, “There are so many rumors, but it’s nice, heh? We have done good business, we conducted a strong squad, and we are ready to go with the fight. I can’t tell because I don’t know if we can sign. When we have news, we will report it immediately. If you see the schedule, it’s tough, it’s really condensed, when you see last season, the World Cup, crazy season, the season takes longer. Two weeks, we played FA Cup final one week longer, we had a short break, we had a really condensed pre-season again. We need numbers but you also need quality. We have the depth and the quality players in; they can play in a variety of systems, and we are happy with it. We are ready to go for the fight. Bayindir? We followed him, scouted him very intensely; we think he has the skills to fit in, fit in Man United, fit in English football, he has the skills. Really glad we signed him. We are really confident he will make a lot of progress in the coming period and the coming years and he will make a huge contribution to our game.”
