Legendary Yankees player believes Shohei Ohtani must choose one position

Shohei Ohtani is a generational talent, one of the greatest baseball players of all time, and he will shortly become significantly wealthier as a result of his free agency.

Ohtani is also coping with a torn ligament in his elbow, an ιnjury that has rendered him unable to pitch for the remainder of the season and casts doubt on his future ability to play both positions.

Because baseball has not seen a player like Ohtani in a century, there are few people qualified to offer advice on how he should manage his career.

One New York Yankees legend attempted to offer Ohtani career advice as he enters the next phase of his professional career.

“As entertaining and impressive as he is, I believe he will eventually have to choose [between hitting and pitching],” said four-time World Series champion Bernie Williams.

“The one with whom he feels the most at ease. Pitchers specialize for a reason, as being a pitcher is extremely difficult.

Ohtani has flourished as a pitcher and designated hitter throughout his career, but his body may not be able to withstand throwing at such a high velocity and batting every day.

His ligament ιnjury may be a minor setback in an otherwise spectacular career, but it should be monitored as he approaches free agency.
