The Reds have six points out of a possible nine through the first three rounds of the season. They most recently defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2 last weekend. They are now getting ready to play a team called Arsenal, who finished one spot above us in the 2022–23 standings.

Raphael Varane will not play against Arsenal on Sunday due to an injury that will keep him out for a few weeks. He was injured during the win over Forest and was replaced at halftime.

In his pre-game press conference on Friday afternoon, Erik ten Hag may give an additional update on the Frenchman. He may also talk about the availability of his recent acquisition, Rasmus Hojlund.

Due to a minor injury he sustained in preseason with his former club, the Denmark international has yet to make his Reds debut since joining from Atlanta this summer. However, in a promising development last Friday, the manager announced that the young striker has been able to join in team training and is almost ready to be in our matchday squad for the first time.

In his most recent pre-game press conference, Ten Hag also provided an update on Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, and Luke Shaw, who missed the Forest game due to injuries and are anticipated to miss the Arsenal game this weekend as well.

Amad, Tom Heaton, and Kobbie Mainoo have all been injured thus far this season. Harry Maguire, who missed the last loss against Tottenham due to an injury, did make his matchday squad debut on Saturday.
