On Wednesday at CitiField, the Texas Rangers were defeated 6-5 by the New York Mets in 10 innings.

After Rangers relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman hit DJ Stewart with a pitch with the bases loaded in the 10th inning, the Mets went on to win the game.

After falling behind 3-0 early on, the Rangers (75-58) finally took a 5-3 lead before losing it in the eighth inning on a Stewart two-run homer off of José Leclerc, a reliever for the Rangers.

The Rangers finished their nine-game road trip with a 3-6 record as a result.

After an eight-game losing streak, the Rangers have won three of their last five games.

In the American League West, the Rangers are currently one game behind the Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners.

The Astros defeated the Boston Red Sox (77-58), and the Mariners defeated the Oakland Athletics (76-57).

On Friday, the Mariners and Mets will begin a three-game series, and the Astros will face the New York Yankees. After having a day off on Thursday, the Texas Rangers will begin a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Friday.
