In Los Angeles Wednesday night, The Boys of August continued to perform
The Dodgers extended their incredible play against the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 7-0 rout, ending the month’s penultimate day with a 24-4 record since the end of July.
In the nine series they’ve played this month, they’ve won every one.
They completed their fifth sweep during that time on Wednesday. On the verge of winning 25 games in a month for the first time since moving to Los Angeles (and the third time overall), they have a chance to make franchise history with one game left in the opening game of the series against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night.
One of the Dodgers’ most convincing victories in August came on Wednesday.
After Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward each hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third, they quickly took the lead.
From then on, they piled on, with Max Muncy contributing an RBI single in the sixth and a two-run double in the fourth.
With Ryan Pepiot pitching five innings and Ryan Yarbrough pitching four innings of relief to earn a save, they also had a dominant one-two pitching combination.
