With the first game of a four-game weekend series against the Braves at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers cap off their greatest month of the season. It’s a matchup between the National League’s top two clubs and might serve as a preview of their third NLCS matchup in the past four years.
As the Dodgers’ first-game starter, Lance Lynn hopes to cap off an outstanding debut month with his new squad. Before the trade deadline, the White Sox traded for Lynn, who has since gone 4-0 with a 2.03 ERA, 26 strikeouts, and six walks in 31 innings. The six home runs he has allowed while playing for the Dodgers account for all seven of his earned runs.
With 236 strikeouts, a 2.79 FIP, and a 1.057 WHIP, Spencer Strider is the majors’ best pitcher. He also leads the National League. The right-hander, who is in his second season, also has the most victories (15), including a 4-1 record and 2.37 ERA in five August starts.
In each of his last three outings, Strider went seven innings, surrendering only one run while striking out 25 batters.
