The consistently dependable Clayton Kershaw, who is getting close to a franchise record, gave the Los Angeles Dodgers another outstanding performance.
Another step has been taken by Clayton Kershaw toward what is fast turning into a historic certainty for the team. According to Dodger Insider, Kershaw managed to climb into a tie for second place in Los Angeles’ all-time pitching victories record by winning Tuesday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
“With 209 career victories, Clayton Kershaw is currently tied with Don Drysdale for second place in Dodger history. With 233, Don Sutton holds the record.
Starting and going five innings, Kershaw only allowed one run on three hits, gave out three free passes, and struck out five Diamondbacks hitters. Gus Varland, Tyson Miller, and Victor Gonzalez worked together for four shutout innings to close out the game, giving Kershaw the pitching victory and leading the Dodgers to a 9-1 triumph.
As a 10-time All-Star, Kershaw has almost locked up his place in Cooperstown and cemented his legacy in Los Angeles. But even though his age is starting to play a bigger role at this point in his career, he may still add to the Dodgers mythology by producing one excellent performance after another. By having a successful season, the 35-year-old Kershaw has done a great job of fending off Father Time so far this year.
