New York is in last place to start the month of September, thus the Yankees have released Josh Donaldson and waived Harrison Bader

The New York Yankees, who are having their worst season in franchise history, have chosen to release two players as the MLB rosters expand.

New York started off by cutting ties with Josh Donaldson, a third baseman who had only appeared in 33 games this year.

Then, in a surprise move, they put center fielder Harrison Bader on waivers later that day.

One decision ends a miserable stint in pinstripes, but the other was a complete .

Donaldson has just come off a rough 2022 season in which he Һit.222/.308/.374.

The former American League MVP had a breakout year this year, Һitting ten home runs and swiping.I Һit.142/.225/.434 in 33 games.

In 2022, Donaldson was traded to the New York Yankees from the Minnesota Twins. Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela were returned to the Yankees along with him when they acquired Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ben Rortvedt.

However, Donaldson was never able to reach his full potential in New York. He was plagued by ailments and unable to live up to the high standards set for him.

Bader, on the other hand, was having a great season for the Bronx Bombers.

Bader was traded to the Yankees at last year’s trade deadline from St. Louis. He grew up in Bronxville, a Westchester County hamlet just minutes away from Yankee Stadium.

Bader spent the first half of the 2023 season on the disabled list before going on to smаsh seven home runs in 281 at-bats while playing in 82 games. This year he had a batting line of.242/.279/.370.

Since losing star outfielder Aaron Judge for the season with an ιnjury, the Yankees’ season has gone completely off the rails.

Bret Boone, the brother of Yankees manager Aaron Boone, is one example of an outsider who has seen the problem and pointed out the obvious shortcomings.

With “all due respect to [Anthony] Volpe, I think he’s gonna be a really good player,” New York Yankees manager Bret Boone said, “if he’s hitting fifth for the New York Yankees, you’re in trouble.”

That, I believe, is what Aaron must face. And I agree, Aaron has done an excellent job. Let me tell you, there are occasions when I have to stop thinking like a brother. But you must be truthful. I am also forthright with him.

All the guys in the team really respect and like Aaron Boone. He is completely on their side. He has a lot of pride for his squad. The players adore him. I can honestly sаy, “He is one of the most enthusiastic me𝚗 I have ever met.”
