LA (Associated Press): After colliding with the wall while making an inning-ending grab, Colorado left fielder Jurickson Profar left the Rockies’ game against Los Angeles on Sunday with a twisted left knee.
At Dodger Stadium, Profar made a strong catch on Mookie Betts’ sharp liner to finish the Dodgers’ second inning, but he also collided with a piece of the left field wall that is long and has a mesh cover over a video board.
Profar was motionless on the warning track for at least two minutes before being lifted off the ground and led to the Rockies’ adjoining bullpen by emergency personnel. The Rockies acknowledged two innings later that Profar had hurt his left knee when he needed assistance walking.
After the Rockies arrive back at home on Sunday night, Profar will undergo another evaluation.
Colorado, which had already conceded two runs in the second, may have rescued two runs thanks to Profar’s play.
Profar isn’t the only out-of-towner injured by the Dodgers’ outfield this year while making a spectacular catch. Yankees slugger Aaron Judge missed nearly seven weeks of the summer after breaking his toe on the concrete floor beneath the Dodgers’ bullpen door on June 3.
In the third inning, Cole Tucker singled in a run in relief of Profar. Later in the inning, with Nolan Jones going to left, Tucker took over in right field, and Tucker made a mistake that allowed a Los Angeles run to score.
In the Rockies’ defeat to Los Angeles on Friday night, Profar mishandled a deep fly by Freddie Freeman, allowing the Dodgers’ four-run sixth inning surge to continue.
