Yankees’ ‘Special talent’ Jasson Dominguez could get a call up in September

Even though Jasson Dominguez has only recently reached Triple-A, it is not impossible that he will make it to The Bronx before the season ends.

Dominguez may get a September call-up from Triple-A since the Yankees are putting more emphasis on their future after a brutally poor season (they started four players on Sunday who are 24 or younger).

He’s going to be a tremendously good player in this league, according to manager Aaron Boone. I believe he has a unique gift. He has a powerful swing and is fast, but what I appreciate most about him is his command of the strike zone, even at such a young age.

If all goes well for him, that should prove to be quite useful once he reaches the top.

After seven games at Triple-A, the 20-year-old is 11 for 23 with 10 RBIs, four walks, and one strikeout.

While Dominguez may be eligible to make his MLB debut as soon as next month, he is not currently on the 40-man roster and the Yankees will have to acquire him this offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.

Although Aaron Judge came into Tropicana Field on fire, the Rays were able to put out his blaze.

Judge went 0-for-12 with eight strikeouts and a walk as the Yankees dropped the series against the Rays for the second time this week.

‘He was probably in and out of the zone,’ Boone added. “He walked in like a blaze. In most cases, he is able to make repairs quickly. When he does have a stretch of tough games, he keeps them to a minimum.

Judge wasn’t the only Yankee to have a quiet series, but his inactivity stood out since the reigning AL MVP usually carries the Yankees.

Kevin Cash, manager of the Rays, called him “one of, if not the best player in baseball.” Having success pitching to him was a key factor in our series victory.

On Sunday, after spending the first 100 games of the season with High-A Hudson Valley, promising center fielder Spencer Jones was promoted to Double-A Somerset.

MLB.com has Jones, now 22 years old, as the Yankees’ top prоspect. In 459 at-bats for High-A, he struck out 133 times while hitting.268 with 13 home runs and 35 steals.

The future of the organization is bright because of him, Boone remarked. His first full year has been quite successful. As he continues to improve, maybe he can close off the season on a high note. But overall, I think he’s had a productive year.

From Vanderbilt in 2022, the Yankees selected Jones in the first round.

Hideki Irabu’s former interpreter and executive adviser to the Yankees, George Rose, passed away on Sunday at the age of 57.
