A 14-0 shutout victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes was achieved by the Oklahoma City Dodgers on Sunday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark thanks in large part to starting pitcher Nick Frasso’s six flawless innings. Scar Mercado’s RBI double and Kolten Wong’s two-run double gave the Dodgers a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The third inning saw Oklahoma City score seven more runs, giving them a 10-run lead thanks to RBI doubles from Patrick Mazeika, Ryan Ward, and Mercado. Jonny DeLuca’s RBI double and Jorbit Vivas’ RBI groundout added two more runs for the Dodgers in the fourth inning, and they added two more runs in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout and sacrifice fly for a 14-0 lead. In the series finale, they outhit the Isotopes 17 to 5.

-Four Dodger pitchers combined for the team’s sixth shutout of the year, allowing just five hits, one walk, and a total of 10 strikeouts against Albuquerque. With a 14-0 shutout victory in OKC on April 25, 1998, Sunday’s victory equaled for the team’s biggest shutout victory at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and the second-largest shutout victory overall in the Bricktown era. The team’s victory on Sunday was also their biggest shutout triumph since a 19-0 triumph in Round Rock on May 12, 2022, during the previous campaign.After allowing at least six runs in each of their previous six games (a combined 47 runs), the Dodgers were defeated by OKC on Sunday for the first shutout victory since July 9 against Albuquerque in OKC.

-Starting pitcher Nick Frasso (1-0) won his first game in Triple-A on Sunday by pitching 6.0 innings without allowing a run while also striking out four batters. He faced 13 batters in all, retiring them all, and he threw 80 pitches (51 strikes). He moved from Double-A Tulsa, where he had led the Drillers with 21 starts, to OKC on Sunday. Each of Shelby Miller, Tanner Dodson, and Ken Giles recorded a scoreless inning in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out two batters per outing.

-The Dodgers’ 17 hits were their most in a game since they finished with 22 hits on August 6 against Round Rock in OKC. With eight extra-base hits and seven doubles, Oklahoma City tied their season best on Sunday. After 78 games with at least one extra-base hit, the Dodgers were held without one on Saturday night against Sugar Land, breaking a streak that had lasted since May 20.

-The Dodgers scored 14 or more runs in a game for the 10th time this season on Sunday, and OKC had its highest runs scored in a game since a 17-7 victory over Round Rock on August 6 in OKC.The Oklahoma City Thunder scored seven runs in the third inning on Sunday, which was the most since they scored seven runs in the eighth inning of their victory on August 6.

-Kolten Wong, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a run scored, and three hits and three RBI, paced the Dodgers. The Dodgers signed the seasoned infielder as a minor league free agency on August 9.

In his first game for the OKC squad, Scar Mercado went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored. He opted out of a minor league deal with San Diego on August 21 and signed with the Dodgers on August 25.

-Ryan Ward increased his hitting streak to six games, going 2-for-5 while collecting two RBI and two runs scored in addition to his fifth triple of the year. Ward has been hitting well lately, going 9 for 26 (.346) with 7 RBI.

-Justin Yurchak had a 3-for-5 performance, a double, and a season-high three runs scored. His three hits were also a season high.The Dodgers also had multi-hit performances from Patrick Mazeika (2-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) and Jonny DeLuca (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, R), who was still on his Major League Rehab Assignment.
