According to reports, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are in talks to swap loans for Ryan Gravenberch, a midfielder.
According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, under that scenario, Scott McTominay, a recent graduate of the Red Devils academy, might take a different path.
The 26-year-old has recently had trouble breaking into Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup; in 24 Premier League appearances for the team in 2022–2023, the player was only named in his first eleven ten times.
Additionally, Gravenberch has struggled to establish himself as a dependable member of Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup. He made 24 appearances for Bayern last season, starting just three of them while joining the team in the other 21 games from the bench.
However, Falk posted on Twitter that “Bayern is interested in Scott McTominay,” suggesting that the pair may be moving on to greener pastures. Also brought up is a swap loan arrangement with Ryan Gravenberch.

The Scotland international, whose United contract expires in 2025, was selected for all three of United’s Premier League season openers, although he only saw seven minutes of action.
This summer, he has been strongly connected with leaving the team, with West Ham expressing interest in the midfielder as a potential replacement for Declan Rice, who left for Arsenal at the beginning of the transfer season.
McTominay joined the club’s youth ranks in July 2013, and if he leaves Old Trafford this summer, it will be the end of a 10-year association.

According to Mail Sport, McTominay took part in this week’s Red Devils’ 3-0 loss to Burnley in a game played behind closed doors.
While Gravenberch did not participate in Bayern’s opening Bundesliga match of the new campaign, he did join the action on Sunday in a 3-1 victory over Augsburg and played nine minutes off the bench.
Liverpool, who have already held negotiations with the German champions to capture the 21-year-old Ajax academy graduate, are also interested in the dynamic Dutch midfielder.
With Mason Mount anticipated to be out for six weeks with a hamstring injury, Man United will need to provide cover in the middle of the field.
