According to Dax McCarty of the MLS, Lionel Messi’s sweat has a cologne-like smell, according to The Wag.
The Nashville midfielder had the fortunate fortune to get Messi’s jersey after the Leagues Cup championship game.
Messi scored in the 1-1 game, and Inter Miami prevailed 10-9 on penalties to give him his 44th career trophy.
After the game, McCarty took Messi’s shirt home and threatened to frame it, so he wasn’t entirely dejected.
“Love my guys, proud of this group,” he wrote beside the photo when he posted it to Instagram.
I’m sorry, Jen McCarty, but the final slide will go in a frame over the bed.
Jen answered in the comments, “No chance that’s happening.”
She tweeted the identical image with the message, “We smelled it. He sweats straight cologne, that’s how it smells.
Messi, 36, continued his fantastic start in the MLS with an incredible goal in the championship; he has now scored ten goals in as many games for Inter Miami.
The Argentine also scored his team’s first penalty kick in the shootout, helping them win their first trophy since their founding in 2020.
And Messi followed up his game-winning performance with a dignified gesture prior to the team’s trophy presentation.
The new Inter Miami captain insisted on lifting the Leagues Cup together with his American counterpart DeAndre Yedlin and put his armband on the latter’s arm.
