United’s captain is called ‘pathetic’ by its long time nemesis

Bruno Fernandes, the newly-appointed captain of Manchester United, has faced criticism for his behavior being described as ‘pathetic’.

Bruno has faced criticism after the match against Tottenham

Since joining the club, the Portuguese player has quickly become a key figure and was named captain earlier this summer, succeeding Harry Maguire. While known for his passion on the field, Fernandes has also received yellow cards and criticism from pundits for his actions.

Following United’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, Fernandes once again came under scrutiny. Pundit Micah Richards remarked, “It’s getting embarrassing now.

The duo Pellistri and Bruno didn’t work effectively

The young lad Pellistri comes on. Fernandes is trying to get his team playing and I totally understand he’s frustrated. Pellistri made a run, Fernandes didn’t see him and [so] he made a different run but because he wasn’t where [Fernandes] wanted him to be, he’s going off at Pellistri.”

Richards added, “It’s every time. I saw an interview with him the other day and he said he needs to be emotional when he performs because it makes him play better. But I feel like his body language on the pitch is disturbing the rest of the team and it’s just not a good look at all. It’s pathetic at times.”

The former City defender criticized Fernandes for his behavior

Former Manchester United player Gary Neville had also criticized Fernandes for his behavior during the team’s 7-0 defeat by Liverpool last season. Neville said, “They have not been epitomized more than Bruno Fernandes, who has been embarrassing – a shambles – in this game. Bruno Fernandes is stood in the center circle with his arms raised saying ‘Why isn’t it me coming off?’ Honestly. I think some of his behavior in the second half has been a disgrace.”

Manchester United will have an opportunity to turn things around when they face Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
