The auction to own Man United is finally over

Ever since the Glazer family announced that it was willing to sell the Old Trafford club, the Qatari prince and the British tycoon Sir Jim Ratcliff have been in a competitive relationship, with Sheikh Jassim reportedly coming out on top.

It has been reported that Sheikh Jassim won the Manchester United buying competition and that the £6 billion deal will be finalized in October.

Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliff have been in a rivalry since the Glazer family announced that it was willing to sell the Old Trafford club, and it now seems that Sheikh Jassim has won, according to The Sun.

The Glazers had first expressed a desire to retain their ownership of Manchester United shares, but they have now chosen to surrender 100% of the asset after senior club officials warned them of potential fan backlash.

The acquisition is anticipated to be completed by the middle of October, and the story also notes that an announcement might be made as early as the following month while Sheikh Jassim and his team carry out their due diligence.

On the £790 million they initially spent on Manchester United in 2005, the Glazers will see huge profits.

The drama that has lasted for a full year will come to an end when the Glazers sell the Old Trafford club in November 2022, if everything goes according to plan in October.

“One of the most illustrious and successful sports organizations in the world, Manchester United plc, announces today that the Board of Directors of the Company is starting a process to explore strategic alternatives for the club,” the club said in a statement at the time.

“The process is designed to support the club’s future growth, with the ultimate goal being to position the club to take advantage of opportunities both on and off the field and in the marketplace.

During this process, the Board will consider all available strategic options, including new club investments, sales, and other corporate ventures.

In addition to other projects to fortify the team, the stadium and infrastructure will be renovated, and the club’s commercial operations will be extended internationally. All of these improvements will benefit stakeholders and supporters as well as the men’s, women’s, and academy teams of the club in the long run.

Sheikh Jassim has high expectations for Manchester United, and some of those goals involve upgrades and expenditures at both the Old Trafford stadium and the Carrington training complex.

Following their mutual decision to leave the team, Cristiano Ronaldo publicly criticized the way United had not progressed under Glazer.
