Stephen Curry, while discussing the Los Angeles Lakers’ legendary point guard Magic Johnson, chose to have faith in himself.
As example, “Are you the best dribbling defender of all time?”
“Yes,” said Stephen Curry.
The top point guard for the Golden State Warriors thinks he is the best defender in NBA history. But Curry also said that the Los Angeles Lakers superstar Magic Johnson is still “on top of that PG mountain.”
“Me and Magic Johnson, the two best people in this position,” Stephen Curry remarked.
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas recently voiced his views on Stephen Curry on his podcast, which may spark debate. Gilbert provides the ideal rationale for why Curry and Magic Johnson are both starting point guards.
We could spend all day comparing stats and coming to the conclusion that Magic Johnson has horrible numbers. He’s only five feet tall, but he can do it all as a dribbling defender, making him the best point guard the NBA has ever seen.
Even in the 1990s, when I was coming of age and first stepping foot in the NBA, I didn’t see many young people aspiring to be as short as Magic and as dedicated to playing point guard as he was.
When I travel to different football fields throughout the world, I realize that practically every young basketball player aspires to be like Stephen Curry. That was his unique impact,” says Gilbert Arenas.
Among Magic Johnson’s many accolades and honors are five championship rings, three MVP awards, three Finals MVP trophies, 12 selections to the All-Star team, and nine starts in the starting lineup. Played on the All-NBA First Team once in his career.
With Stephen Curry, he has won 4 titles (1 as Finals MVP), 2 as MVP, 9 as an All-Star, 4 as a member of the All-NBA First Team, 4 as members of the All-NBA Second Team, and 1 as a member of the All-NBA Third Team.
Even though Curry is well aware that Magic Johnson has a more impressive resume, he nevertheless takes great pride in being compared to the Lakers star.
I never in a million years thought I’d be compared to Magic, but his accomplishments are absolutely astounding and astonishing.
However, as you (Gilbert Arenas – PV) mentioned, the comparisons and arguments will be somewhat more equal until we widen the conversation further on other factors.
And that’s just how sports are. Generational comparisons among fans are a common source of contention. That’s why they enjoy watching basketball and other sports so much.
Stephen Curry continued, “I like this comparison, and I have faith in myself,” in reference to the anecdote about Magic Johnson.Magic Johnson and Stephen Curry are two of the best dribble-guards in the NBA. Each of us can use our special set of talents to make a reputation for ourselves and, perhaps, gain cult status among our generation’s youth.
Since he is still in the game and has yet to reach the end of his story, Curry will have the upper hand today. However, the “chef” has nearly broken every previous record.
The Golden State superstar has only one goal left: winning a championship and passing the all-time record set by Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
