Manchester United target player playing for European champions to upgrade midfield

After a dismal start to the season, Manchester United is still looking to add midfield reinforcements as the summer transfer window closes.

Although the team has been linked with several midfield players recently, a report published today suggests United may be looking to add two players before the September 1st deadline.

According to 90 minutes, negotiations are underway for Ryan Gravenberch and Sofyan Amrabat, albeit these transactions are reliant on departures from Old Trafford.

According to the report, sources at Old Trafford have declined to rule out the possibility of both midfielders making a double swoop this summer.

Amrabat’s potential transfer has already been “lined up” with Fiorentina, while United is still looking at a number of options for Gravenberch.

Erik ten Hag, who made his debut with Ajax, would “prefer” to go on loan with a buyout option. Gravenberch is still being connected to Liverpool in a similar deal, and the Dutch player is open to playing in English football.

It is said that Bayern would prefer a “permanent transfer” rather than selling its midfielder, but they are “resistant” to doing so.A similar deal is thought to be the only one being discussed in regards to Amrabat, not a loan. The Fiorentina man also worked under Ten Hag at FC Utrecht. A report by The People’s Person contends United will “almost certainly” bid for the Moroccan towards the end of this window.

Either move is dependent on United further clearing deadwood from their squad, however, having already seen Fred depart to join Turkish side Fenerbahçe.

Donny van de Beek continues to be linked away from Old Trafford, with Ten Hag refusing to include him in the matchday squad due to “ongoing negotiations” with another club.

Furthermore, Hannibal Mejbri is rumored to be going on loan this season, and Scott McTominay’s future is still up in the air.

Deals for Amrabat and Gravenberch to replace them might be made swiftly if United is able to move some of these players in the next few days, which would support the porous midfield group.

The club may have changed its mind after the terrible outcome against Tottenham Hotspur, as the initial thought was that United would only want one more midfield player later in the window.
