Man United’s right decision

It is decided that Mason Greenwood will not play for Manchester United.

The club announced in a statement on Monday that it was “mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate” for Greenwood to continue his career away from Old Trafford.

Many will see this as United finally making the right choice after months of deliberation. It is also challenging to commend the club for its choice when you consider the methods and rationale behind the decision.

Mason Greenwood: Manchester United forward to leave club as internal investigation concludes - Eurosport

It has been decided by Mason Greenwood to leave Manchester United.

Greenwood faced allegations of violence, domineering conduct, and attempted rape in the previous year.

However, the Crown Prosecution Service stated more than six months ago that it was “duty bound to stop the case” since it could no longer prosecute him further due to the “withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light.”

Following that, United conducted an internal club inquiry. Unsurprisingly, the team “concluded” on Monday that Greenwood “did not commit the offenses in respect of which he was originally charged” “based on the evidence available to us.”

The statement went on, “But Mason has made mistakes for which he is taking responsibility, as he publicly acknowledges today.”Many may find it offensive that United took the incredibly brave decision to publish its own decision in a case that was previously handled by the British legal system.Former United captain Gary Neville expressed his unease. On Monday Night Football on Sky Sports, Neville said, “There needs to be independence on an issue like domestic abuse, on violence against women.””.Manchester United shouldn’t be the judge and jury in such a significant case. both for their own benefit and the benefit of the game. Although the Premier League is equally pertinent in this regard, Manchester United’s reputation is frequently highlighted.

In my view, issues this serious and significant should be examined independently by a panel. It’s clear that Manchester United lacks the skills and experience required to manage this situation properly. It has been far above their experience and ability level.”Gary Neville pictured working for Sky Sports

In regards to United’s handling of the Greenwood issue, Gary Neville voiced displeasure.

Neville released three statements prior to his remarks on Monday. First, there was United’s official statement.

Greenwood issued his before United CEO Richard Arnold put out an open letter to fans.

All three declarations acknowledged Greenwood’s “mistakes,” though they did not elaborate on what those mistakes had been. One thing about mistakes is that they are often forgiven.

However, in order to be forgiven, one must own one’s own guilt as well as really want to make amends. In his statement, Greenwood said, “I fully accept that I made mistakes in my relationship, and I take my share of responsibility for the situations that led to the social media post.”
